Dragon Prince by luffie Dragon Prince by luffie
"There's no beast I cannot tame"

This time I utilize the "black and white with color layer on top" method. It feels a little weird and funny but it's pretty effective though, BnW is really easier to handle, when you increase the value of an area you don't need to worry whether the color will be more or less saturated.

I use to work from color straight, it gives you the impression of the final image faster, and the image tends to look more vibrant but shading can sometimes be a pain in the ass when different colors are involved. For BnW colors tend to look dead, so I guess I need more practice on this area.

The Prince looks a bit plain though, I haven't thought much of his design but I promise I will flesh him out in the next piece, so watch out for Dragon Prince 2!

So, for this piece you first painted all in grayscale and then added color?
Its a great piece and a nice concept.

Whoa, very nice. Love that cirle, and that dragon looks very intimidating. The various textures throughout the peice are eye catching, too, especially on the ground and dragon. :)
